More from Arkansas and Move With Balance®

Arkansas has been doing some amazing work with our program. IMG_1935

“We will be conducting a training in March that will provide Move with Balance group leaders in ten additional counties in southeast Arkansas.  This is the delta region where there is a very high poverty rate and very poor health rates.  We are really excited to offer Move with Balance® to this area.  This will put us in 57 or our 75 counties. We will keep you informed of our progress.”—Beverly

“The program is going  well in Todd’s area.  We are training another area later this month.  Judd’s area will train soon and ours will be training in March and April.  We are so excited about the program and Todd’s folks are absolutely loving it!” –Angie

Move With Balance® in Arkansas

20150924_101749_resizedJust finished teaching a 1 hour class on MWB at our annual Senior Alliance Conference in Fo20150924_101213_resizedrt Smith, Arkansas. Probably 50 or 60 people there. Many came up to me afterward and wanted more info. Some are ordering the book.

Also want me to teach a longer class so maybe we can talk about that. I’m excited about what’s happening with Move With Balance. I absolutely love the idea of adding music so can’t wait to see/hear that new addition.

Yahoo, MWB moving in Arkansas!
Thanks for a great program that our seniors love.

Laura Vandegrift from Sedona, AZ teaches Move With Balance to 2 different groups

0407151416Hi Karen:  Following are some comments from the classes I held here in Sedona this year.  Sorry to take so long to get this to you.  I have also
enclosed some pictures.  I just finished the summer program at Olli Osher Life Long Learning Institute from Yavapai College and am scheduled again for the Fall semester starting in October.  The class was extremely well received.  The Olli program has more active seniors than the class I hold at my clubhouse where I live. It was interesting to see the different reactions from the younger-aged seniors. It has given me a lot of information about how to proceed as I get ready to take this to the general public and retirement communities.  Having done this now almost every week since April, I feel very confident in the process and how to work with different age groups.  read more…

Move With Balance® on Kaua’i

Karnews_1.22en, good morning to you and everyone at Giving Back!

Upon my arrival to the island of Kauai, after spending a year on Maui having the privilege of working with Karen Peterson at one of the Assisted Living Sites as a mentor, I knew I wanted to share the goodness she has created because of the love she has for the aging population.

I shared with her early in our relationship; I vowed to offer the Move with Balance concept and practices with others. This I have done, by implementing two offerings at sites, one at the Friendship House (mentally challenged), and the other, an Adult Day Care Center. There we provided a few mentors to work with our mentees throughout a 10 week time period.

Karen was invited over to do a community presentation, and participate in a Health and Wellness Expo in February, 2013; days after her book had just been printed. Many participants purchased books, visitors and residents alike delighted in her presence; as many of them knew first hand whether they were care takers, aging or providers the need for “mind alert” movements.

I have introduced these movements at the Lihue Senior Neighborhood Center, they love it and have me come back as often as my schedule allows.

I have been working with a physical therapist to offer classes in her private studio. She has been in communication with Karen, has started to expose the general population to the concept and her offerings.

I see and hear ONLY positive responses and appreciation from others once they are introduced to the concepts of the Move with Balance programming.

When I think of Karen Peterson’s work, I think of a phrase, “When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life”. She is passionate about her work, for that, I am very grateful on both a personal and professional level. I simply want to share her goodness with others.

Move With Balance® in Greece

Karen, good morning to you and everyone at Giving Back!

I am a kinesiologist from Athens, Greece. I have been following your excellent and inspiring work for some time, bought your book and I am using it in my sessions. I would love to have the opportunity to meet you in person at some point.

I wish to thank you for your greetings and mostly for the inspiration you have been. Your vision and how you made it happen is so heart warming and so real. I suggest your book to everyone I meet that works with elders and I believe it can make a real difference to the prejudices we have about how active our elders can be. They have amazing wisdom to share and they can give so much when given a chance. Your program gives them and the rest of us a chance to grow, share and connect

I wish you all the very best. M.K.
